Time Balm Foundation

Happy Hump Day!

I love TheBalm, so when I was getting a couple of things from them on Hautelook, I decided to try their Time Balm foundation. I got the second-lightest shade, Light/Medium. It’s a thick cream foundation that comes in a plastic compact with a screw-on lid. There’s no mirror, but it comes with a sponge. I usually use just a brush or swirl it with my finger to warm it up and them buff it in with a brush (if you use your fingers, remember to wash/sanitize your hands first!).

The color match is pretty good with this. It looks almost orange in the photo, but you can probably see in the little dent that it does come off lighter than it looks. There is a scent to the product, kind of chemical-y yet pleasant, almost like honey, and I haven’t found it to contain any irritating perfumes. The scent is really strong when you first open it but it fades a bit over time (or I just got used to it!).

I would call this a medium coverage foundation. It’s definitely buildable, but it can look cakey if you try and make it full coverage just because of its texture. I like to use a light layer of this and build it up a little bit in any problem areas.

There’s definitely a luminous or “natural glow” type of finish with this product, so it may look a bit shiny if you have oily skin. I find that even when I set it with a mattifying powder, a little sheen still shows through.

It lasts a long time, but I wouldn’t say that this is a longwear formula. It will get you through the day, but you may need to have a powder handy in case it gets a little too shiny.

Overall, I do like this foundation, but there are so many amazing drugstore foundations out there that I don’t know if I would pay full price for this. Luckily, TheBalm is on Hautelook every couple of months and they offer this foundation half off (about $10), so if you like a non-matte finish and get the opportunity, I say try it! This little compact with last you forever, and it’s a good product.

Have you tried this foundation? What do you think?

  1. Well it comes in an adorable little pot, so I’m already sold. I’m completely in love with products that come in a jar, tin, or pot. I would probably pay $15 for Chapstick if it came in a cute little pot. How is the oxidation with this foundation?

    1. The packaging is adorable for sure but it’s also really great for travel since it’s so thin and the cap screws on rather than flips. I get you on products that come in pots like that!

I haven’t had any problems at all with oxidation. Just the shininess, since my skin is a bit on the oily side. I just bring my Maybelline Dream Matte powder with me to touch up!

    1. They are! I really like everything I’ve tried of theirs, and the packaging is always so cute. I definitely recommend keeping an eye on Hautelook and getting some products half off next time they do an event!
