FOTD: Gold Eyes, Bold Lip

Hi all,

I wanted to show you one of my favorite looks so far for this season. I wore this to a holiday dinner a couple nights ago, and I was really hoping to have it up before Christmas in case you needed a simple holiday look as well, but alas… What’s great about this look, though, is that you don’t really need an “occasion” to use it because it’s not over the top. I think a deep plum or berry lip would also look great with the gold eyes!

And here’s how to do it:

1) Start off with your favorite basics

My basics this time included foundation, concealer, brows, bronzer to contour, and a little highlight. I used a teeny bit of blush to emphasize the strong color on the lips, but I think this look would look great without blush too.

2) Prime your lids to make it last all day

If you’re one of those mystical people who doesn’t need a primer, go you, and skip this step. Unfortunately, I REALLY need an eyelid primer. I used Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance.

3) Go for the gold!

I’m using a cream pencil shadow, Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Bulletproof Beige (which is really more of a gold), with a gold powder shadow on top to set it. I used Urban Decay’s Half Baked from the Naked palette, and a little bit of buck in the crease for some depth.

I’m skipping on the liner here for more of a “bare eyes” kind of look. I think it looks so lovely with a dark lip!

And don’t forget your favorite mascara… I’m using Benefit’s They’re Real for lots of lashes!

4) Line your lips

You shouldn’t skip on this if you’re using a dark color. I’m using a clear liner, ELF’s lip lock pencil, around the outside of my lips to make sure the lipstick doesn’t bleed out.

5) Put on your lipstick

I’m using Clinique’s lipstick in Vintage Wine. I love the formula of this lipstick!
