Hello! I saw Morphe on Hautelook recently and decided to try out a few of their products. I got a brush set, a blush palette, and an eyeshadow palette. You can see me use these products for the first time in my video.
As you just saw, the brushes were just not what I expected. The bristles are much less dense than my other brushes, and the blending brush was shedding on me in the first use! The smaller eye brushes seem to be fine in terms of shedding, but those are a lot harder to get wrong. I still haven’t tried the stippling brushes… I’m scared.
I do like the variety of brushes in this set, though, and I think it could be a good starter kit for someone just getting into makeup. The lighter feel of these can be a little more forgiving than the super dense brushes I have from other brands. Otherwise… D’ya like finding brush bristles on your pants after you do your makeup? I’ll stick with sturdier brushes for blending, and use this blending brush for highlighting.
What a shame, because so many beauty gurus on YouTube rave about these brushes. Makes you wonder…
So onto the makeup. I’ll start with the blush palette. This little guy is a great deal because you get 9 shades that are sort of all over the map in terms of color and vibrancy. But be warned: the palette’s packaging feels very cheap. The plastic is thin and it doesn’t always close fully. I would take major precautions if I was going to travel with this. At least the palette is super thin–that’s a plus!
These blushes are really pigmented and last all day. I definitely recommend trying these out!
The eyeshadow palette I got is monstrous. It’s one of their 35-pan palettes. I chose one that’s more warm-toned but strays from having just nudes. Again, the packaging is very cheap. This palette is also a lot bigger, like the size of a children’s book, so that’s something to keep in mind as well.
So far, I really like these shadows. They tend to crease a bit on me by the end of the day, but the colors are really pigmented and blendable. I mean, LOOK at that yellow-gold!! Some of these bright, shimmery shades are just explosive. The more satin-finish shades don’t blend quite as well, but with a little extra time they look just as good.
I mention in the video, though, that these colors are all mid-tone, so there isn’t a lot of depth. I have to grab another palette if I want to smoke out some of these gorgeous brights. There also aren’t any mattes, so I need to look elsewhere for a crease shade or anything else that requires a matte. I don’t see this particular palette as an all-you-need-in-one-place kind of product. It’s a fun selection that gives you a pop of color or intense shimmer here and there, that you supplement with the staples in your collection.
