2017 Favorites (Cruelty-Free)

What a year. I’m going to post my 2017 reflection and 2018 goals separately, but I’ll say right now that this year has been both challenging and rewarding in so many ways. I’m also happy to be spending my last night of 2017 at home making videos and writing instead of out partying. Woohoo!

This year was an interesting year for me with makeup and skincare. I barely bought any makeup, instead doing one big purge in the middle of the year and another over the next couple days. I learned a lot about skincare and got quite a few products to try, but even then, I didn’t get all that much. This is the first year since I started to wear makeup that I spent so little.

I feel like I’m generally becoming more distant from all the marketing campaigns and the intrigue of new beauty products. I’ve been much more interested in following other kinds of news, and enjoying the products I already have. I’ve cared less about the makeup and more about the other parts of my life. I think this has been a good change overall, but it does make me question how much longer I’ll enjoy contributing to this community if I’m not so involved with it as a viewer and reader.

But a positive change has been my decision to go cruelty-free! Part of my purge right now is to get rid of a lot of my non-cruelty-free products. Since I made the announcement, I’ve purchased only cruelty-free makeup and brushes. I had a bit more trouble with skincare, mostly because I started buying new products around the time I made the announcement, so I know there’s room for improvement there. I’ll be sharing my routine sometime in the next two weeks (fiiiinally), and I’ll clearly mark which products aren’t cruelty-free and attempt to offer some alternatives.

OK, so onto my favorites. This year’s list is quite short. I’ve really stuck to my tried and true favorites, with only a couple differences from last year.
