Hi, I’m Colleen. Nice to meet you.

There’s a world of beauty blogs and YouTube channels out there, but sometimes it feels like everyone’s talking about the same few products. Either that, or they only talk about $70 foundations, which is a bit outside the budget for most.

I started Broke for Beauty in 2012 because I was a college student trying to figure out which products could work for me without making my wallet break a sweat. I wanted to talk about products in many price ranges and shine the spotlight on some products that get overlooked in the buzz about another brand (that maybe spent a little more on marketing).

I added a YouTube channel to the mix in 2014, because some things are easier to show than to photograph. Since then, I’ve been posting content ranging from product reviews to painting my dog’s nails.

I always write honest reviews, even for products that were sent to me for free. Take a look through my posts to see what’s worth your money or not, without spending a thing. Join the conversation in the comments to get to know your fellow beauty-lovers. And let me know what I should try out next!

  1. Hey, I’m glad I found your blog!
My name is Courtney and I’ve just started FlatBrokeCoed at flatbrokecoed.com here on WordPress.
The idea is that I want to help college students with money concerns. I plan to touch on drugstore goodies as well as higher end brands that are worth the splurge (l’m in LOVE with Clinique) sort of in the spirit that you have here.
I look forward to more posts from you. Hope to hear from you!
