I got some things I’ve been lusting after (and then some) for my birthday, and I thought I’d share it with you guys. But I feel the need to start off with a warning: I went a little crazy. I never shop like this and probably won’t buy too much more for a long time, so be prepared for a long post…
Of course, I had to go to Sephora. I had some store credit from a return and decided to go against my natural instinct to save it up and splurge on something fun. I have two from the Rouge Volupte Shine line and really wanted to try the original Rouge Volupte line. I got #29 Rose Opera:
The scent and feel of this lipstick is similar to the Shine line, but I think the finish is more comfortable for this one. It also holds up well through meals and reapplies nicely. However, the color goes on a little bit patchy and doesn’t feel like it’s ever quite set. I don’t wear any of my YSL lipsticks without fully prepping my lips beforehand, but this one seems to be a little bit worse for that. Maybe it’s because this is a lighter shade than my others.
I also picked up my birthday gift from Sephora, a MUFE lipstick and mascara duo.
The lipstick is really beautiful and does seem to be a very universal color. It’s a semi-sheer medium reddish brown and feels very moisturizing. I haven’t tried the mascara but I’ll make sure to use it as soon as I need another one.
I upgraded my iPad so my boyfriend’s aunt could have my old one for work, so I needed a case. I found this cute incase folio on clearance at Target.
I’ve been using this case all week and it’s been great! I wonder why it was on clearance, but I’m not about to complain.
I also stopped by Forever 21 to see if anything stuck out. They seem to have some new clothes coming in for spring, so I grabbed a few things. I couldn’t resist that necklace!
I don’t own anything with polka dots anymore, but this top was just so simple and classic that I knew I’d be able to wear it many different ways. The black top I put with the necklace is a really thick and stretchy material with a large ribbing pattern. It’s super subtle but interesting. I don’t know why I’ve been loving black clothing so much lately, but I knew this top would go well with everything and is thick enough to get me through the rest of this cold weather. The dress was something I debated all through the store, but I always think about how few dresses I have, and I thought it would be nice for graduation weekend in a couple months (yikes!!).
I’ve had the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation on my list for a long time, so I went to Macy’s to finally pick it up. They were having a gift with purchase pre-order deal, so I paid for the foundation but I’ll have to wait until March to actually have it so I can get the gift.
This isn’t the exact gift set but it looked something like this:
It comes with an eyeshadow quad, lipstick, moisturizer, and a couple other products in a cute makeup bag. I chose the “bold” set because I liked the lipstick a lot better than the “natural” set. For the foundation, the woman at the counter matched me to either 1C1 Cool Bone or 1W1 Bone for the foundation, I’ll let you know when I get it in about a week.
And finally… I decided to take the plunge and get a few MAC products I’ve had my eye on. I know I’m probably entering a point of no return, but I’ve always wanted to try more of their products. Besides, it’s cheaper than Sephora!
I really wanted to get a bottle of Fix +, but they didn’t have it in stock. The woman said the Mineralized Charged Water Cleanser was about the same thing but more moisturizing, but I didn’t realize it’s for removing makeup, not priming the skin. It also doesn’t have a spray cap, which makes it so I can’t use it the same way as Fix +. I’ll probably keep it and see if I can order the Fix + online if this isn’t actually a similar product. I can always use more makeup remover, anyway!
I knew I wanted to get the Pro Longwear Concealer, and I was matched with NW20. She put it on for me and I absolutely love it as an undereye concealer. It doesn’t just cover my purple dark circles, but it covers them in a way that looks so natural. I have to see if I can apply it just as well on my own.
I was only going to get one lipstick, something natural-looking to wear daily, but my boyfriend went right to Vegas Volt and said he liked it. Little did he know, I had already been lusting after it online. Naturally, this meant that I needed to buy it, right? I got Fan Fare for my natural color, a medium muted pink. I haven’t gotten to wear them, but expect a review with swatches coming up!
That’s it for my haul. I feel like a crazy person getting all this stuff! I think I’ve just been trying so hard to save up that when my family sent me cards telling me not to spend my birthday money responsibly (yes, that happened), I actually went for it. Thanks for reading!
What are your favorite MAC products? Also, please let me know if you know anything about Fix + vs. the Mineralize Cleanser!
UPDATE: If you’re wondering how to get any of the items in this haul, check out my new Luvocracy page, where I made a collection just for this post!
