Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Eyes, Face, Lips, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Today I’m going to finally share my thoughts about the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic palette. I’ve had this palette around for a long time and realized I never posted a review! The details $32 from Sephora’s website Cruelty-free and vegan 4 x 0.05 oz/ 1.53 g Holographic Shades in Emerald (green), Saphyre (blue), Amethyst (ultra-violet), Opal (pink) Packaging This palette has some of the coolest packaging of any palette in my collection. It’s a white and iridescent triangle with an embossed A design. It’s cardboard but feels reinforced because of the plastic coating. It has a magnetic closure that really stays shut. Inside, it has a mirror and a smooth matte covering around the pans. It feels similar to something like NARS or ELF packaging but doesn’t pick up…

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
The Electropop palette from Kevyn Aucoin caught my eye when I was shopping at Sephora last month. The color selection is just gorgeous. I’ve been using it a lot lately, so let’s dive in. The Details Retails for $57 at Sephora 12 pans at 1.5g/0.05 oz each Cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is an ingredient) Limited edition, apparently… It was released for holiday 2017 but is still around There are two product claims I could find for this palette, both on the box the palette came in (the same descriptions are on Sephora's site with slight variations). First, about the palette: Dramat-eyes like a pro to create endless 3D chromatic eye looks and editorial effects - from a light, sheer shimmer to a high, metallic opaque finish. These electro chrome…

Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Skin
Hi! I got this Mask-a-holic set of Peter Thomas Roth face masks in VIB Rouge sale haul a couple years ago, and since then I’ve been using these and taking notes. This post has been in the works for a long time, but it kept getting punted month-to-month as new products or topics came up that I wanted to write about instead. I also wanted to make sure I gave these products enough time to write a thorough review of each one. Cruelty-free status Part of why I put off this post is that the company is in a grey area in terms of their cruelty-free status. The consensus seems to be that they’re not, but I wanted to include their full statement from their website in case you’re interested. Peter Thomas…

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Eyes, Fall, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Seasonal, Summer
I'm finally coming at you with another review, this time for the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette. There are four different Obsessions palettes, but this one stood out to me because it has a great variety of colors and is closest to what I normally like to wear. The Details Retails for $27 at Sephora and Huda Beauty's website 9 x 1.3g (0.05 oz) eyeshadows Cruelty-free (and after some digging, I found that the company responded to someone's comment on their website about the Obsession palettes being vegan, but take that as you wish) Here's what Huda Beauty says about this line of mini palettes: A range of compact eyeshadow palettes, expertly curated by Huda herself, offering beauty lovers a complete day-to-night eye color wardrobe. Each Huda Beauty Obsessions…

Sephora 2018 Birthday Gift: BITE Beauty

Sephora 2018 Birthday Gift: BITE Beauty

Lips, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
My birthday’s tomorrow, so now is a great time to talk about Sephora’s 2018 birthday gift! I love BITE Beauty, and I was so happy to find out that they’re cruelty-free (the other birthday gift option is Glam Glow, which unfortunately isn’t cruelty-free). I have a few lipsticks that started with minis just like these—one from when I was VIB rouge and a duo from one of their holiday collections. I’ve since expanded to a couple full-size lipsticks because they had a VIB Rouge exclusive and a couple limited-edition shades that caught my eye. This little set comes with two different lipstick formulas and a couple lip care samples. Let’s take a look! Lipsticks: Amuse Bouche in Chai on the left, Matte Créme Crayon in Glacé in on the right.…

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hey, how 'bout a blog post review instead of a video today? ;) Spoiler alert: Today’s review is a rave review. You may remember from my VIB Rouge Sale haul this year that I snagged this little eyeshadow palette for my then-upcoming Thanksgiving trip. Well, I enjoyed it so much that I continued to use it when I got home, then took it on a pre-Christmas visit to see my Dad, and so on… I had to force myself to pick up other products again after a while! So let’s talk about what I like so much, yeah? Packaging I have ZERO complaints about the packaging for this product. It’s slim, light, and fits in just about any small space you might have when you’re packing a suitcase or gym…

Colourpop at Sephora: Golden State of Mind and Polite AF Sets

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hi, friends! I got my hands on a couple of the Colourpop products that launched at Sephora back in November, and I’m so excited to finally share my thoughts with you. I’ve wanted to try some of their products for a long time, and it’s so much more convenient to do so now that they’re at Sephora! All of their products are cruelty-free and reasonably priced. Let’s dive in! Golden State of Mind Palette This palette caught my eye because it’s full of gorgeous shimmers and glitters. I don’t have a lot of very glittery eyeshadows, so I knew this would give me a lot more options in my collection. This palette sells at Sephora for $22, but as of this writing it’s on sale for $18. You may be…

theBalm Nude ‘Tude and Nude Dude Palettes

theBalm Nude ‘Tude and Nude Dude Palettes

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hello, friends! I've been sitting on these two palettes and finally realized I never actually reviewed them. And with theBalm's new release of the Nude Beach palette, it seems like a good time to take a look at the well-loved originals.   Nude 'Tude This is the original nude palette from theBalm. It has 12 shades organized from light to medium to dark across the palette. There are 4 mattes, 6 shimmers, and 2 shimmers with glitter. Check out the cute packaging! I believe they used to have a PG version that matched the outer cover design, but I chose this one because it felt more in the spirit of what the company was going for. I think as of right now you can only get this version. This palette…

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I grabbed theBalm's Meet Matt(e) Nude palette for a steal at Nordstrom Rack recently. It retails for $42, and I got it for $14.97. It also appears on Hautelook from time to time, so you can definitely get this for less than retail. About the Palette This palette contains nine matte eyeshadows. It's cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is one non-vegan ingredient I can identify on the packaging). This is a typical cardboard palette with a magnetic closure. It has a great mirror in the top, which is a nice surprise! The pans in this palette are a great size. The whole palette is 25.5g, so each pan is about 2.8g. You have more than enough room for any eyeshadow brush, and each pan still has a bit of space…

Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat Gallery Blush Palette

Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat Gallery Blush Palette

Face, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I recently picked up the Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat Gallery Blush palette at Sephora. The artistic packaging is cool, but I was drawn to the simplicity of a bronzer, highlight, and two non-similar blush shades. Also, this palette is limited edition and has a lot of great reviews online, so of course I was curious!   The shades are X-Rated (bright pink), Now's the Time (highlight), Jawbone (bronzer), and Noho (mauve). X-Rated is available as a single blush. The other three seem to be exclusive to this palette, but you can get similar shades separately or in the Naked Flushed palettes. Packaging This palette is canvas-covered cardboard with the logos and crown design embossed. Some of the artwork is raised as well, which makes this palette nice to hold and…

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak

Face, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I'm always a fan of compact, multi-use products, so it was inevitable that I would try one of the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palettes. It comes in six different shades, and I chose Streak because I liked the warm, coral-toned blush. Packaging I love how sleek yet sturdy this packaging is. It's similar to the packaging for the Naked Basics palettes, but it's a thin, hard plastic instead of a slightly rubberized finish. It also has a magnetic closure, which most of the Naked and Naked Basics palettes don't have. There isn't any wasted space in this palette. There is a full-size mirror in this palette (a lifesaver when traveling), and the pan takes up the entire compact. You get 0.49 oz of product, which is quite large. This makes…

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I picked up this Essence All About Chocolates eyeshadow palette on a whim a while back. I love how compact it is while still holding decently-sized eyeshadows. Gotta love efficient packaging. This palette comes in several styles (all about roses, all about nudes, etc.), but I chose chocolates because I wanted a pocket-sized palette that would go with anything. There are six neutral shades: two beige (one with more shimmer), a medium cool brown, a medium warm brown, a grey-taupe, and a dark cool brown. They're all shimmers, although the packaging claims the shades range "with different effects from matt to shimmer to metallic." Yes, that's how they spelled matte. That maybe should have been a sign that none of the shades are matte. I like shimmery eyeshadows, so I…
