Trying New Clarisonic Brush Heads

First impressions, Product reviews, Skin, Tools, Videos
Happy Sunday! I found this footage on my computer and realized I never finished editing and posting this video. I filmed a first impression of the newest Clarisonic brush heads: the Uplift Firming Massage Head and the Sonic Foundation Brush Head, Uplift Firming Massage Head This massage head is meant to massage your face, neck, and chest. I've seen some reviews mention using this to apply serums. It's $54 alone or now comes with the Clarisonic Smart Profile (which may have been renamed??). It can only be used with the Smart Profile model. My first impression: It simply vibrates. I thought it would rotate or something, but it doesn't. It's difficult to use this on your face except for large areas like the jawline and forehead. It's pretty expensive, especially…

First Impressions: Sephora Color Switcher and Makeup Tape

First Impressions: Sephora Color Switcher and Makeup Tape

First impressions, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Happy Sunday! Today I want to share a first impressions and demo video for two Sephora Collection makeup tools: the Color Switcher by Vera Mona and the Line Up Makeup Tape. These are both fairly inexpensive tools that might be useful to have around. See these tools in action along with my in-depth demo and review: https://youtu.be/_a-Lop_bGQ4 Color Switch I spent the most time in this video on the color switcher, because I really wanted to see if it works. The idea behind this product is to let you wipe off eyeshadow from your brush before switching colors, saving you time and keeping your eyeshadows untainted from one another. For my day-to-day makeup, I tend to use two brushes to get the job done, so I figured if this works,…

A Big Bag o' Empties

Empties and purges, Eyes, Face, Nails, Product reviews, Skin, Tools
Woohoo -- it's time to review my trash! I've been saving up these empties for a loooong time. So this video is quite long. To help you skim through it, I put text on the screen so you can find the products you're most interested in. https://youtu.be/seC2TXfoa_w I hope you enjoyed all those reviews. I haven't done an empties post or video since 2014, I think... Oh, and if you're curious about my makeup, I'm wearing the same face as my recent FOTD post ;)

NEW(ish): liner.designer by beautyblender

NEW(ish): liner.designer by beautyblender

Eyes, First impressions, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hi all, During the spring VIB/VIB Rouge 15% off sale, I thought I'd pick up something different. I ended up getting this new liner.designer by beautyblender to see if it could actually help me put eyeliner on quickly and flawlessly (or, at least with fewer mistakes!). The liner.designer is made of silicone so it can adapt to lay flat on your face. It's also that signature beautyblender pink! The case has a 5x magnifying mirror and a suction attachment so you can attach it to a wall or bathroom mirror. The mirror is helpful because it gives you a good view of what you're doing, but as you'll see in the demo, I ended up with slightly strange wings. I feel like this was because being so zoomed in made me lose the context…

Morphe Eyeshadows, Blushes, and Brushes

Morphe Eyeshadows, Blushes, and Brushes

Beauty hauls, Eyes, Face, First impressions, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hello! I saw Morphe on Hautelook recently and decided to try out a few of their products. I got a brush set, a blush palette, and an eyeshadow palette. You can see me use these products for the first time in my video. https://youtu.be/V2kL7whjtes As you just saw, the brushes were just not what I expected. The bristles are much less dense than my other brushes, and the blending brush was shedding on me in the first use! The smaller eye brushes seem to be fine in terms of shedding, but those are a lot harder to get wrong. I still haven't tried the stippling brushes... I'm scared. I do like the variety of brushes in this set, though, and I think it could be a good starter kit for…

Current Skincare Routine: Morning and Night

Current Skincare Routine: Morning and Night

Favorites, Product reviews, Skin, Tools, Videos
Hey, everyone! I've had a crazy time lately, just trying to get my last month of grad school (!!!) in order. Anyway, after my Clarisonic review last time, I got a couple of requests for a skincare routine. So, here's my current skincare routine, both morning and night! And yeah, I couldn't give up the opportunity to use that ugly screencap as my thumbnail photo for this video... and this post. Whoops! :D I am in no way saying that I've found the perfect products of life and that I'm set on this routine forever. This is just what I've been doing lately, and I've generally been very happy with it. It doesn't mean I'm not willing to take suggestions if you know of better products! I hope you find this…

Review and Demo: Beauty Blender Dupes

Review and Demo: Beauty Blender Dupes

Comparisons, Face, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hi, everyone! I have a side-by-side comparison of the beloved Beauty Blender with two drugstore versions: the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge (the orange one) and the Precision Beauty Blending sponge (the purple one, not to be confused with the yellow Sephora Precision Sponge). The Real Techniques sponge is $4.99 at Ulta, and the Precision sponge is $4.99 at Marshall's. These two drugstore sponges are talked about the most, I think, as dupes for the Beauty Blender, so I wanted to put them to the test first. If there are other dupes you've heard about, please let me know so I can do a part two. I know I promised this post and video long ago (this post was drafted back in June...yikes!), but I hated my initial footage and wanted…

Clarisonic: Three Things That No One Talks About

Clarisonic: Three Things That No One Talks About

Product reviews, Skin, Tools, Videos
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATjfGABy1XQ&w=560&h=315] Hi, everyone! I wanted to make a video about the Clarisonic, because as much as I love mine, there are three things I've found out about the hard way. Things that I really wish someone had told me when I first bought it. Here's the recap in case you don't want to take notes ;) Battery life - the battery life gets worse over time. After a year and a half, I get about half the charge that I did when it was brand new. Tap water - my skin reacted poorly to the Clarisonic for a while, and I realized it was because the tap water at one place I was using it had harsher water than what my skin was used to. Make sure you have clean,…

Types of Foundation Brushes

Types of Foundation Brushes

Product reviews, Tools, Tutorials and Tips
Hey, beauties! I'm excited to announce a new series for my blog: Sunday Spotlight! Each week I'll focus on a different subject and talk about various options, and hopefully you'll have a better idea of what will work best for you. That way, you can save your money and treat yourself to something on your wish list :) So, here we go! There are so many different kinds of foundation brushes out there, and sometimes it's hard to tell which will work best with your different foundations, and which are worth splurging on. I'm in no way a makeup brush expert, but through some trial and error I have developed some opinions that I think might help anyone who's in the market for something new but isn't sure where to…

Permanent Favorites – Clarisonic Mia and Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove

Permanent Favorites – Clarisonic Mia and Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove

Product reviews, Tools
As I've started gathering items for my upcoming May favorites post, I've come across two things that I know will always make that list. So, rather than list them every single month, I decided to write about them separately. 1. Clarisonic Mia I got the Clarisonic Mia in lavender last January, and it is hands-down the best skincare item I own. I have oily (and thus, pimple-prone) skin, but the biggest skin problem I've had is that the harsh chemicals in acne creams and treatments gave my skin teeny bumps and redness. I kept mistaking it for acne, so I kept putting those chemicals all over my face, making it worse. I started looking into the Clarisonic because I wanted something to help even my skin's texture, clean deeper, and…
