Haul + First Impressions: Walgreens and Target

Hey there, pretty ladies! I picked up a few items at Walgreens and Target recently, and thought I’d share some first impressions.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick (09)

I know I keep buying lip products lately, but I can’t help myself! I snagged the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick in shade 09 that I had been eyeing online.

This color is very bright and absolutely gorgeous (darker and brighter in person)! I’ve been into berry colors for my lips lately, and this one seemed perfect to add to my collection because it’s a little more on the purple side than what I owned already. It also seems like a great color for fall as well, so I’m excited to get a lot of use out of it.

This color is very similar to the Maybelline Color Whisper in Berry Ready (the most pigmented shade by far and my favorite):

I will have to try these on the lips and compare the color and wear throughout the day, but on my arm these definitely look like dupes. Overall I’m really loving this color, and the formula felt nice for the few minutes I had it on. I can’t wait to see how it lasts throughout an entire day!

Milani Lipstick in 25 Naturally Chic

Now that I’ve gotten a couple of these, I just can’t stop. This color caught my eye because its similar to Teddy Bare but much more pink:

These lipsticks are smooth, pigmented, make it through a lot of the day for such neutral colors. For a drugstore lipstick, I’d rank these pretty high. They’re not quite Revlon quality, but I definitely recommend them (and they smell like candy!).

Willa Lip Balm in Vera Cruz Vanilla and St. Tropez Strawberry

I’ve never come across this brand before but these were on sale for about $2 at Target, so I thought they were worth a try. I went for the Strawberry one first to see if there’s any pigmentation in it, but it seems to go on clear. That’s not a huge problem for me, as I was really going for these to layer over lip colors and to moisturize at night.

The strawberry balm doesn’t have the best scent (very fake strawberry), but that doesn’t matter very much, since it goes away a few minutes after applying. The vanilla balm smells very good. Neither has a taste to it. The consistency is thin but buildable, and feels sticky on the fingers but not the lips.

For something I picked up on clearance, these lip balms are quite good. These really do stay on for a long time, and after wearing it all night, my lips feel soft in the morning. I also really like the packaging—it’s as sturdy as it is cute, so you don’t have to worry about throwing it in your purse when you’re in a rush. I definitely recommend these if you can find them!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in 05 Edgy Emerald

I didn’t think I wanted to venture out into the super bright Maybelline Color Tattoos, but I saw some swatches of this one online and had to grab it. It was $1 off at my local Walgreens, so I took that as a sign. Like the other Color Tattoos, this one is creamy, pigmented, and lasts all day. It’s also buildable, so it doesn’t wear as bright as it looks in the packaging unless you want it to. I really love how this color looks with my brown eyes!

Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster

I was checking out the teeth whitening kits when I saw this. It’s a gel that you use with your regular toothpaste, and it’s supposed to act like those intense whitening kits with all of the goo and trays. It’s a cheaper and convenient alternative, but I’ll have to see if it really works well. I’ve used it for a couple of nights, and I haven’t had any irritation or pain like whitening strips usually cause.

That’s it for my drugstore beauty haul! Let me know what you’d like to see an update on 🙂
