I’m really excited about today’s post because I’ve been holding onto these items since I got back from my trip to Paris last month. I got to go to Paris for work so I could meet some of my team members I (obviously) hadn’t had the chance to meet in the year since I’ve been at my job. But despite needing to clock in at the office, I got to spend a weekend and the evenings there for exploring. After that, I went over to Berlin to meet up with some family and learn about my grandfather’s childhood there during WWII. It was a fantastic trip (until I got my phone stolen, but that’s a different story…).
Anyway, while in Paris, I made sure to visit Sephora’s flagship store on the famous Champs-Élysées, near the Arc de Triomphe.
My goal was to find a few things that I can’t get in the US (or at least can’t get easily), and that would fit in my suitcase.
I found a little section where they had these Lollipops items and really liked the beauty essentials palette and the illuminating pearls.
The beauty essentials palette contains a concealer, an eyeshadow, a highlighter, and a cream blush.
I have no idea if I’ll like the concealer, but I know the other products can get some use. Although, I don’t really know why they included an ivory eyeshadow and called it “fix.” I also don’t know why said eyeshadow and the highlighter are labeled as “cat’s eyes.”
The illuminating pearls caught my eye because I’ve never had a product like this before. I know, where have I been? I also liked how compact the packaging is.
You might be able to tell that there isn’t all that much product in there. I’m not all that upset about that, though, because these will take a really long time to wear down. The pearls are white, pink, and green, which I’m thinking will just leave a neutral highlight? Only time will tell…
And now for my favorite purchase. I was looking for Les Merveilleuses because they make that rose petal blush that a few bloggers and YouTubers have managed to get from Amazon. I had a feeling I could find it cheaper in Paris.
When I eventually found the brand, I was sad to see the smaller size of the rose petal blushes were all sold out. Heartbroken. I considered getting the full size, and my boyfriend was really trying to convince me, but it didn’t really fall into my criteria of finding things to fit into my suitcase home, and I didn’t really have the space for it on my makeup table. Also, it wasn’t that much cheaper than getting it in the US. I think the container itself was about 40 euros, and the product was about 80. That’s about $135, and you can get it from Amazon or eBay for around $145-150. Also, that’s just a crazy expensive product that has a lot of mixed reviews online. It was really “travel size or bust” for me.
But not all hope was lost! They had little cream blushes in similar, adorable packaging.
The blush has a slight floral scent, and it’s just so little and cute! I’m still bummed about the rose petals, but this was a good compromise. Plus, the rose petals had more of a chance of falling apart in my luggage.
Later, my boyfriend told me that while I was at work, he went into a couple other Sephora stores he came across and didn’t even see the same brand there. So not only is he sweet, but he provided some vital information: If you go to Paris, you’ll probably only find this brand at the flagship store.
Now, I have a bit of a grievance. When I was paying for these items, I pulled out my VIB Rouge card, and they told me they use a completely different point system! I guess that’s not totally surprising, but I was disappointed nonetheless. You’d think an international brand might find a way to level out points across different currencies, especially euros.
That’s all for my Paris mini haul! I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I’m wishing for another trip to Paris someday. I completely fell in love. Plus, they might get that mini rose petal blush back in stock! 😉
