Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Hi, everyone!

Sorry for the brief hiatus there – my college had its spring Carnival and my honors thesis was due just afterwards, so needless to say I was a bit swamped. But now it’s smooth sailing until graduation… wait, what? Even though I’m coming back for one year of grad school, it’s unbelievable that I’m nearly done with undergrad.

I’ve had the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation for a couple months now. Even though I’ve only used the one I purchased, I should disclose that I received another one complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes (as you saw in my Uni Voxbox). The one I chose is a good shade match, so I’ll be holding onto the other one to share with a friend!

Now it’s time to bare my face to the world. Here’s the before and after using just the foundation:

As you can see, pretty good shade match and coverage. I use only a very small amount to keep it from looking too thick, and therefore give up some of the coverage. I’d rather conceal certain spots than add too much foundation to my whole face!

The product doesn’t have any scent and squeezes out of the tube as a thick cream (similar to the consistency of a body butter). I’ve found that it looks most blended when I use it with my fingers, so I just dab some of the various parts of my face and blend it out. I suggest working quickly and checking very closely around crevices or other uneven spots to make sure you don’t have any excess product built up there.

For my combination/oily skin, this foundation lasts a long time and I don’t use much powder to set it, which makes it super easy to throw on and go. But if you have any dry patches at all, this foundation will accentuate them, so make sure you don’t have any flakes before putting this on.

A lot of people have talked about this foundation looking cakey, and while it certainly looks like you’re wearing makeup with this product, as long as you keep it thin and moisturize well beforehand, it can look great! It drove me crazy when bloggers were trying this out right when it came out in January and saying it was terrible, when most of the problem was that the freezing cold weather probably dried out their skin! That’s why I’ve taken a long time to give you all a review of this product; I had a feeling it would work a lot better in the spring and it certainly does! I can’t wait to see what people say about it in the summer, too.

This foundation retails for $4.99-$5.49 at any drugstore that sells Rimmel (should be most of them!). So if you’re at all curious to try this out, you’re not putting too much money at stake. Definitely take a look around for some coupons, too, as Rimmel seems to be pushing a lot out. I was able to purchase mine with a $1.00 off coupon on the display itself.

Thanks for reading! Have you tried this foundation? Let me know what you think in the comments!
