Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
The Electropop palette from Kevyn Aucoin caught my eye when I was shopping at Sephora last month. The color selection is just gorgeous. I’ve been using it a lot lately, so let’s dive in. The Details Retails for $57 at Sephora 12 pans at 1.5g/0.05 oz each Cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is an ingredient) Limited edition, apparently… It was released for holiday 2017 but is still around There are two product claims I could find for this palette, both on the box the palette came in (the same descriptions are on Sephora's site with slight variations). First, about the palette: Dramat-eyes like a pro to create endless 3D chromatic eye looks and editorial effects - from a light, sheer shimmer to a high, metallic opaque finish. These electro chrome…

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Eyes, Fall, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Seasonal, Summer
I'm finally coming at you with another review, this time for the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette. There are four different Obsessions palettes, but this one stood out to me because it has a great variety of colors and is closest to what I normally like to wear. The Details Retails for $27 at Sephora and Huda Beauty's website 9 x 1.3g (0.05 oz) eyeshadows Cruelty-free (and after some digging, I found that the company responded to someone's comment on their website about the Obsession palettes being vegan, but take that as you wish) Here's what Huda Beauty says about this line of mini palettes: A range of compact eyeshadow palettes, expertly curated by Huda herself, offering beauty lovers a complete day-to-night eye color wardrobe. Each Huda Beauty Obsessions…

theBalm Nude ‘Tude and Nude Dude Palettes

theBalm Nude ‘Tude and Nude Dude Palettes

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hello, friends! I've been sitting on these two palettes and finally realized I never actually reviewed them. And with theBalm's new release of the Nude Beach palette, it seems like a good time to take a look at the well-loved originals.   Nude 'Tude This is the original nude palette from theBalm. It has 12 shades organized from light to medium to dark across the palette. There are 4 mattes, 6 shimmers, and 2 shimmers with glitter. Check out the cute packaging! I believe they used to have a PG version that matched the outer cover design, but I chose this one because it felt more in the spirit of what the company was going for. I think as of right now you can only get this version. This palette…

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I grabbed theBalm's Meet Matt(e) Nude palette for a steal at Nordstrom Rack recently. It retails for $42, and I got it for $14.97. It also appears on Hautelook from time to time, so you can definitely get this for less than retail. About the Palette This palette contains nine matte eyeshadows. It's cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is one non-vegan ingredient I can identify on the packaging). This is a typical cardboard palette with a magnetic closure. It has a great mirror in the top, which is a nice surprise! The pans in this palette are a great size. The whole palette is 25.5g, so each pan is about 2.8g. You have more than enough room for any eyeshadow brush, and each pan still has a bit of space…

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I picked up this Essence All About Chocolates eyeshadow palette on a whim a while back. I love how compact it is while still holding decently-sized eyeshadows. Gotta love efficient packaging. This palette comes in several styles (all about roses, all about nudes, etc.), but I chose chocolates because I wanted a pocket-sized palette that would go with anything. There are six neutral shades: two beige (one with more shimmer), a medium cool brown, a medium warm brown, a grey-taupe, and a dark cool brown. They're all shimmers, although the packaging claims the shades range "with different effects from matt to shimmer to metallic." Yes, that's how they spelled matte. That maybe should have been a sign that none of the shades are matte. I like shimmery eyeshadows, so I…

First Impression + Review: Juvia’s Place Nubian I and II Palettes

First Impression + Review: Juvia’s Place Nubian I and II Palettes

Beauty steals, Eyes, First impressions, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Videos
I was SO excited to try these palettes. Juvia's Place is an indy makeup brand and they've had a ton of success from their Nubian palettes. You may have seen some hype surrounding their newest release, the Saharan palette. I only heard about it after I made my purchase, though, so I only have the first and second palettes. This brand is cruelty-free, and most of their products are vegan (these two palettes are). Their brushes are cruelty-free, so next time I need brushes I might check them out! Their palettes and colors are inspired by the people and culture of different places in Africa. I came across the Nubian I palette on Pinterest, and then realized I'd seen it on Jaclyn Hill's channel. I also got the Nubian II palette…

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Videos
Hey, guys! The purchase I made that got me the sample of the new Benefit Roller Lash mascara was the NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I have some mixed feelings about it so far. The palette is $79, which is quite an investment for a palette this size compared to similar palettes. But I'd heard amazing things about these shadows: they can be used wet or dry, they blend well, they're pigmented. I loved that this palette has such a nice range of shades, covering your basic neutrals as well as including a couple of unexpected colors. This palette also comes with a brush--and a good one, too. It's their wet/dry brush (I don't know the specific name, but that's the gist),…

How to: Depot Makeup

How to: Depot Makeup

DIYs, Lifestyle, Tutorials and Tips, Videos
So many people have "declutter" on their list of new years resolutions. Depotting is a great way to declutter your makeup collection by removing pans of makeup from their individual compacts and placing them into a single palette. I went on a bit of a depotting craze over break, and I've finally put all of the footage together! The video has some instruction, but I wanted to put more detailed instructions and my tips in a blog post in case you want it. http://youtu.be/AmEG-j8C-bM That video definitely doesn't hide just how many products I depotted. I didn't even show the second palette with the blushes! As I was packing to go home back in December, I noticed just how many individual compacts I had, and how little I really used…

NYX Butt "Naked" Eyes Palette

Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hi everyone, I've pulled this back out for my January makeup basket and decided to give you all a full review with swatches. I think NYX products can really be hit or miss, and this palette contains some of each. The cool things about this product are the packaging, and that it has both eye and cheek products. The lid lifts to reveal a full mirror and fifteen eyeshadows, and the bottom compartment slides out for the four blushes, bronzer, and two highlights. I was hoping to use this product for traveling, but it's a bit thick and doesn't feel totally secure. I also haven't spent much time with the products, which this month will hopefully fix. Eyeshadows Shade 1: a pretty buttery matte ivory Shade 2: a light warm…

Hey all, I've realized lately that I have a lot of products I haven't used in a while, so to make sure I'm getting the most out of my stash, I'm pulling a few products out this month and using them throughout the month. I'm not going to restrict myself to just these products, especially because I'll be going home in a couple of weeks, but this will help me use up what I already own and hopefully rediscover some amazing products! Let's unpack it... Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Natural Ivory (20): I got this foundation about a year ago after I heard about it on YouTube, but found that it gave me dry patches around my nose and chin. I definitely want to try this again now that I've…
