Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Eyes, Face, Lips, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Today I’m going to finally share my thoughts about the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic palette. I’ve had this palette around for a long time and realized I never posted a review! The details $32 from Sephora’s website Cruelty-free and vegan 4 x 0.05 oz/ 1.53 g Holographic Shades in Emerald (green), Saphyre (blue), Amethyst (ultra-violet), Opal (pink) Packaging This palette has some of the coolest packaging of any palette in my collection. It’s a white and iridescent triangle with an embossed A design. It’s cardboard but feels reinforced because of the plastic coating. It has a magnetic closure that really stays shut. Inside, it has a mirror and a smooth matte covering around the pans. It feels similar to something like NARS or ELF packaging but doesn’t pick up…

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Kevyn Aucoin Electropop Pro Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
The Electropop palette from Kevyn Aucoin caught my eye when I was shopping at Sephora last month. The color selection is just gorgeous. I’ve been using it a lot lately, so let’s dive in. The Details Retails for $57 at Sephora 12 pans at 1.5g/0.05 oz each Cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is an ingredient) Limited edition, apparently… It was released for holiday 2017 but is still around There are two product claims I could find for this palette, both on the box the palette came in (the same descriptions are on Sephora's site with slight variations). First, about the palette: Dramat-eyes like a pro to create endless 3D chromatic eye looks and editorial effects - from a light, sheer shimmer to a high, metallic opaque finish. These electro chrome…

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Eyes, Fall, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Seasonal, Summer
I'm finally coming at you with another review, this time for the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette. There are four different Obsessions palettes, but this one stood out to me because it has a great variety of colors and is closest to what I normally like to wear. The Details Retails for $27 at Sephora and Huda Beauty's website 9 x 1.3g (0.05 oz) eyeshadows Cruelty-free (and after some digging, I found that the company responded to someone's comment on their website about the Obsession palettes being vegan, but take that as you wish) Here's what Huda Beauty says about this line of mini palettes: A range of compact eyeshadow palettes, expertly curated by Huda herself, offering beauty lovers a complete day-to-night eye color wardrobe. Each Huda Beauty Obsessions…

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Hey, how 'bout a blog post review instead of a video today? ;) Spoiler alert: Today’s review is a rave review. You may remember from my VIB Rouge Sale haul this year that I snagged this little eyeshadow palette for my then-upcoming Thanksgiving trip. Well, I enjoyed it so much that I continued to use it when I got home, then took it on a pre-Christmas visit to see my Dad, and so on… I had to force myself to pick up other products again after a while! So let’s talk about what I like so much, yeah? Packaging I have ZERO complaints about the packaging for this product. It’s slim, light, and fits in just about any small space you might have when you’re packing a suitcase or gym…

Colourpop at Sephora: Golden State of Mind and Polite AF Sets

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hi, friends! I got my hands on a couple of the Colourpop products that launched at Sephora back in November, and I’m so excited to finally share my thoughts with you. I’ve wanted to try some of their products for a long time, and it’s so much more convenient to do so now that they’re at Sephora! All of their products are cruelty-free and reasonably priced. Let’s dive in! Golden State of Mind Palette This palette caught my eye because it’s full of gorgeous shimmers and glitters. I don’t have a lot of very glittery eyeshadows, so I knew this would give me a lot more options in my collection. This palette sells at Sephora for $22, but as of this writing it’s on sale for $18. You may be…

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I grabbed theBalm's Meet Matt(e) Nude palette for a steal at Nordstrom Rack recently. It retails for $42, and I got it for $14.97. It also appears on Hautelook from time to time, so you can definitely get this for less than retail. About the Palette This palette contains nine matte eyeshadows. It's cruelty-free but not vegan (carmine is one non-vegan ingredient I can identify on the packaging). This is a typical cardboard palette with a magnetic closure. It has a great mirror in the top, which is a nice surprise! The pans in this palette are a great size. The whole palette is 25.5g, so each pan is about 2.8g. You have more than enough room for any eyeshadow brush, and each pan still has a bit of space…

Stila Magnificent Metals: Kitten Karma and Into the Blue

Stila Magnificent Metals: Kitten Karma and Into the Blue

Eyes, Product reviews, Videos
I purchased two of the magical Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows. There are two types--regular and duo chrome--and I got one of each so we can see if there are any differences between the two (other than shifting fairy dust, of course). Check out my video for a live review, demos, and swatches: https://youtu.be/aSFxdD0uS6Y About the Products These eye shadows are $24 for .15 oz/4.5 mL, which is definitely on the pricey side. There are no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, and they're cruelty-free. Kitten Karma - Regular Glitter Shadow There are 11 regular glitter shades ranging from silver, gold, and brown shades to a couple reddish shades and a black. There are currently no cool-toned shades or dark shades other than the black. It would be…

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Essence All About Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
I picked up this Essence All About Chocolates eyeshadow palette on a whim a while back. I love how compact it is while still holding decently-sized eyeshadows. Gotta love efficient packaging. This palette comes in several styles (all about roses, all about nudes, etc.), but I chose chocolates because I wanted a pocket-sized palette that would go with anything. There are six neutral shades: two beige (one with more shimmer), a medium cool brown, a medium warm brown, a grey-taupe, and a dark cool brown. They're all shimmers, although the packaging claims the shades range "with different effects from matt to shimmer to metallic." Yes, that's how they spelled matte. That maybe should have been a sign that none of the shades are matte. I like shimmery eyeshadows, so I…

NYX Love in Paris palette in "Merci Beaucoup"

NYX Love in Paris palette in "Merci Beaucoup"

Eyes, Product reviews
Hi all, It's been a while since I've done a straight-up, old-fashioned review. I've had this NYX Love in Paris palette in "Merci Beaucoup" for a long time and finally decided to commit to using it for a couple weeks and get some notes down. I was always on the fence about this palette, and after this, I've definitely seen some awesome qualities and some not-so-great qualities. This palette comes with 9 shades and a small sponge-tip applicator. There's no mirror, but the clear window lets you see what in it at a glance, which I like for when I'm shuffling through a bunch of stuff! I noticed after taking these photos that the back of the palette lists the numbered shades with the palette laying sideways... Oops! I took photos…

Morphe Eyeshadows, Blushes, and Brushes

Beauty hauls, Eyes, Face, First impressions, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hello! I saw Morphe on Hautelook recently and decided to try out a few of their products. I got a brush set, a blush palette, and an eyeshadow palette. You can see me use these products for the first time in my video. https://youtu.be/V2kL7whjtes As you just saw, the brushes were just not what I expected. The bristles are much less dense than my other brushes, and the blending brush was shedding on me in the first use! The smaller eye brushes seem to be fine in terms of shedding, but those are a lot harder to get wrong. I still haven't tried the stippling brushes... I'm scared. I do like the variety of brushes in this set, though, and I think it could be a good starter kit for…

Trying on 4 New Drugstore Products

Beauty hauls, Eyes, First impressions, Lips, Product reviews, Videos
Hi all, I grabbed a few new things and thought I'd do a combo first impressions and try-on video. I got Wet 'n Wild's eyeshadow palette in Coming in Latte, Illumi-naughty concealer pen in Posing Nude, Velvet Matte Lip Color in Hickory Smoked, and Maybelline's Color Tattoo Crayon in Barely Beige. Check out my first impressions and wear for day 1: https://youtu.be/gTVDQYWayhw I wore a couple of these products on the second day, just to see if I felt differently about anything. The concealer looked better, but I still prefer the tried-and-true Maybelline version. I think if you're on a budget and aren't too picky, this is a great option, though. I wore the Color Tattoo Crayon alone without a primer, and by the end of the day it was clumped up…
