NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation

Face, Product reviews
NYX's Stay Matte but not Flat foundation has been a loved product in the makeup community for a few years. I grabbed mine quite a while ago, but I got caught up in other products and didn't get around to spending some time with it for a review. In fact, I think mine is so old that the packaging now looks slightly different. About the Product This is a powder foundation with a matte finish. The description for this product emphasizes flawless skin and a flawless finish, but doesn't provide more detail about what the "not flat" part of the name means. It comes in 25 shades, and I have the shade SMP02 Nude, the second shade from the lightest. A handful of the shades are available online only, so…

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness

Face, Product reviews
Hi! I've been using this product for some time now, but I finally got around to posting a review. I've reviewed a few IT Cosmetics products, but Bye Bye Redness Neutralizing Correcting Cream is definitely a very close second to the Celebration Illumination foundation (only because I use the powder foundation much more often). This product is a color-correcting cream that you can wear alone or underneath a regular foundation. I've found this product to be so pigmented that I normally wear it alone. It's thick, creamy, and buildable. However, it can be difficult to blend, especially if you accidentally use too much. This pot is very small, so the sticker shock is high when you see what you're getting. Take a look at the size of this pot compared…

IT Cosmetics Celebration Illumination Foundation

IT Cosmetics Celebration Illumination Foundation

Face, Product reviews
I have a confession to make. I've been wearing this IT Cosmetics Celebration Illumination Foundation basically daily for months, and I never actually reviewed it. *facepalm* This will be the best-researched review I've ever written, as I've worn this foundation hundreds of times. This foundation is a powder foundation, but it has a teeny bit of a glow to it so your skin looks youthful and healthy. You can wear it alone or over a liquid foundation or concealer for more coverage. On its own, it's about medium coverage, but can be put on sheer and built up where you need it. The packaging is a thin compact with a mirror and secret brush compartment inside. The compact has a little iridescence to it, which I think is a nice touch. I've only…

Video Update: Maybelline Better Skin Challenge + All About My Tieks!

Face, Product reviews, Style
Hi all, I put a few videos up recently and thought I'd put them up here in case you're not subscribed to my channel. First, I made a quick update to talk about my new job, video ideas, hate comments. Surprise guest = the snacks I eat in bed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5-nrDi8MQ Next, I took the three-week #betterskinchallenge with the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation, which I received from Influenster. Check out my journey and review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iu8A_IasV0 And by popular request, I talked all about my Tieks. I've been posting about these shoes since I got my first pair two years ago, and now that I've decided to add another pair to the family, it seemed about time to talk about why I'm crazy enough to spend so much on flats. You can also get…

Foundation Samples Mini-Reviews

Face, Product reviews
Hi all, I've gotten a few foundation samples recently and decided to put them all to the test, and let you know which ones I think are worth trying out or buying full-size. Let's get to it! Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation Mattifying Oil-Free - Light Beige https://flic.kr/p/wQe6ZM https://flic.kr/p/wQe2Z2 https://flic.kr/p/wQJNct This foundation is a terrible shade match for me (as you can see in the swatches), which is a shame because I absolutely love the texture of it. This feels like a true liquid-to-powder foundation that leaves a soft matte finish, and it sets almost immediately. I did put this on my face (dedication!) and it seemed like great coverage and didn't cling to dry or uneven patches of skin, but of course it's hard to tell when the shade was so…

Review and Demo: Beauty Blender Dupes

Review and Demo: Beauty Blender Dupes

Comparisons, Face, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hi, everyone! I have a side-by-side comparison of the beloved Beauty Blender with two drugstore versions: the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge (the orange one) and the Precision Beauty Blending sponge (the purple one, not to be confused with the yellow Sephora Precision Sponge). The Real Techniques sponge is $4.99 at Ulta, and the Precision sponge is $4.99 at Marshall's. These two drugstore sponges are talked about the most, I think, as dupes for the Beauty Blender, so I wanted to put them to the test first. If there are other dupes you've heard about, please let me know so I can do a part two. I know I promised this post and video long ago (this post was drafted back in June...yikes!), but I hated my initial footage and wanted…

So... I only posted ONE substantial post last month, and that was my September favorites. Needless to say, it was a tough month for me. I did a bad job scheduling my courses this semester, so I pretty much get slammed in the beginning of the week, and by the time I'm out of it, I crash. Every week. Luckily at this point my regular assignments are being replaced by long-term final projects, so I can at least have some control over my days now. I already have two more videos ready to go, and a third I'll be posting somewhere in the middle (Sephora VIB Haul coming up!!). Ok. No more excuses. I've got some great favorites this month. Watch them DANCE: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK-g83mfCSo] I mentioned in my feedback…

Hi guys! You may have noticed my posts and videos slowing down a bit this past month, and that's due to my feeling ill for probably about half the month overall. But I've spent that time in bed planning out my posts for the rest of my time here in Virginia (only two weeks!?!), so hopefully I'll be back at it in full force this month! A lot of my favorites are combinations of things, so this looks like a lot of products, but once you group them up it's not too bad.   Garnier BB Cream Combo   I love the Garnier BB creams, and lately I've been loving the two different types (original and oily/combination) mixed together. I wrote a post about these last fall, so check that…

I feel like there are so many things I'm lusting after right now. Maybe the warm weather is making me happy, or maybe it's that I don't have a car to get myself to Sephora, but I've been stalking these items online for a few weeks now. MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator - My skin's texture has been uneven lately, and I've been wanting to find a good exfoliator to use once or twice a week in addition to my face masks.…

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Face, Product reviews
Hi, everyone! Sorry for the brief hiatus there - my college had its spring Carnival and my honors thesis was due just afterwards, so needless to say I was a bit swamped. But now it's smooth sailing until graduation... wait, what? Even though I'm coming back for one year of grad school, it's unbelievable that I'm nearly done with undergrad. Anyway... I've had the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation for a couple months now. Even though I've only used the one I purchased, I should disclose that I received another one complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes (as you saw in my Uni Voxbox). The one I chose is a good shade match, so I'll be holding onto the other one to share with a friend! Now it's time to…

Hey all, I've realized lately that I have a lot of products I haven't used in a while, so to make sure I'm getting the most out of my stash, I'm pulling a few products out this month and using them throughout the month. I'm not going to restrict myself to just these products, especially because I'll be going home in a couple of weeks, but this will help me use up what I already own and hopefully rediscover some amazing products! Let's unpack it... Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Natural Ivory (20): I got this foundation about a year ago after I heard about it on YouTube, but found that it gave me dry patches around my nose and chin. I definitely want to try this again now that I've…

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

Face, Product reviews
Hey! I decided to try out this foundation because I thought it would work well on my oily/combination skin. I had never tried a foundation with a purely matte finish before, so I bought this along with the Dream Matte powder, which I like a lot. The foundation is in Classic Ivory Light 2. Packaging: The twist-off cap makes this packaging feel very sturdy, and it's very compact compared to other whipped foundations (Revlon Colorstay whipped, for example). I don't love the curved shape of the cap, because I can't stack anything on top of it. It's also a bit heavy since it's glass, but it's not a huge difference from a liquid foundation in a glass container. It holds .64 oz (18g) of product. Texture: The whipped texture of this foundation…
