Website Update (And Other Things)

Website Update (And Other Things)

Musings
Hi there! I wanted to jump in here really quickly to let you know that we have a new design for our website. It's a work in progress, but I'm happy with how it looks so far. Hey, wait a second. Why are some of your images broken in your posts? Unfortunately, I had an issue with the site I was using to host my photos, and a bunch of them got deleted. It's totally my fault, and it's unrelated to this redesign. I'll be working to fix what I broke as soon as I find a good solution. Sigh. Why the change in design? The theme I was using before didn't provide a very good mobile experience. Plus, I was using a weird, hack-y home page design that shouldn't…

2017 Recap and 2018 Goals

2017 Recap and 2018 Goals

Lifestyle, Musings, Organization, Wellness
2017 was a year of personal growth and focusing on my long-term goals. I'm so excited to be starting 2018 where I'm at right now... More on that in a minute. Back to 2017. When I started writing this post last week, I thought I'd have even more to talk about than last year because I'd experienced so much more growth. Until I pulled up last year's recap for reference. I saw that I had achieved much more clear milestones in 2016, which was discouraging. I know that my personal growth is just as important as experiences, but it was difficult to remember that. Now, I'm excited to share my 2017 highlights with you. I started strength training Cringey gym selfie in 3, 2, 1... At the end of January,…

Pare Down: October Update

Lifestyle, Organization
If you haven’t been following along, my goal for 2017 is to pare down my space, time, and mind. This means that I’m letting go of what’s cluttering my life to make room for what makes me happy. I make a post at the end of each month to reflect on how I’ve stepped toward and away from that goal. If you’d like to read more about this goal and read past monthly posts, start here. The weather is finally cooling down here in San Francisco, and I’m ready to dive into all things Fall! I’m hoping to do some fun vegan recipes on my non-beauty channel in the next few weeks, and maybe a tutorial or seasonal favorites video on my beauty channel. I don’t want to promise too…

Pare Down: September Update

Lifestyle, Organization
If you haven't been following along, my goal for 2017 is to pare down my space, time, and mind. This means that I'm letting go of what's cluttering my life to make room for what makes me happy. I make a post at the end of each month to reflect on how I've stepped toward and away from that goal. If you'd like to read more about this goal and read past monthly posts, start here. We left off last month with things not going so well. I am proud of how I picked myself up, even if I’m still not back to the productivity I had during June and July. There were definitely a couple highlights. My commitment to 10 ideas per day led to some fun creativity This…

Pare Down: June Update

Pare Down: June Update

Lifestyle, Organization
June has sped on by, and now we're officially over halfway through the year. I had a pretty good month! The trend of having a social life has continued The thing I'm most surprised about since beginning to consider where my time is going is how much I've been branching out socially. I've been going out with friends and coworkers after work about once a week, and having lunch with people more often (although I still like to eat at my desk a lot). I got a nail polish rack and cleared a drawer in my makeup space My nail polish was piled in a bin in a drawer in my makeup drawers. Now, I can see everything I have. Plus, I got rid of more nail polish so everything would…

Pare Down: February Update

Lifestyle, Organization
If you read my blog regularly, you know that this year I want to pare down, and my first month was a big success. I like doing monthly updates to help keep me accountable, and to help any of you who might be trying to declutter your lives too. In the last post, I ended with some goals to start tackling in February: Declutter the kitchen Declutter books, papers, and other random stuff Finish my makeup purge – I’ve got two boxes of makeup that’s either expired or I don’t wear, so I want to figure out what kind of blog post or video I want to do with it, and get rid of it! Keep cutting back on TV and YouTube time Schedule filming and blog drafting time like I…

Video Update: Maybelline Better Skin Challenge + All About My Tieks!

Face, Product reviews, Style
Hi all, I put a few videos up recently and thought I'd put them up here in case you're not subscribed to my channel. First, I made a quick update to talk about my new job, video ideas, hate comments. Surprise guest = the snacks I eat in bed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5-nrDi8MQ Next, I took the three-week #betterskinchallenge with the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation, which I received from Influenster. Check out my journey and review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iu8A_IasV0 And by popular request, I talked all about my Tieks. I've been posting about these shoes since I got my first pair two years ago, and now that I've decided to add another pair to the family, it seemed about time to talk about why I'm crazy enough to spend so much on flats. You can also get…

Quick Announcements!

Uncategorized
Hi all, I'd like to start off this post by telling you that I'm ok! Graduate school is just getting the best of me right now. It's been tough trying to find time to film at a time with decent lighting (Daylight Savings sure isn't going to help), and I've struggled with planning out blog posts in the meantime. Things will hopefully be turning around as my weekly assignments turn into more long-term final projects, so I can save my mornings for filming. If this fails, I'll have an entire month when the semester ends to do nothing but spend time with my family and blog, blog, blog! Here's what's on my post/filming agenda: October Favorites Beauty Blender + 2 Dupes comparison video and post - I filmed this and hated…

January Basket Update

January Basket Update

Product reviews, Tags
Hey everyone, I just had a crazy week and was surprised to see that the month's just about over! That means it's time to let you all know how I liked the products I pulled out from the depths of my makeup collection this month. I think I bought this hoping it would work for the undereye area, and while it's really pigmented, it can be a bit uneven over such delicate skin. I think it's a pretty good quality concealer, though, and there's a lot of product in the tube for something you need so little of! So I can't really complain about this concealer... it's a great deal. This powder gives a natural finish but isn't matte, even though it claims to be "oil-absorbing." I feel like it…

Update: December Makeup Basket

Product reviews, Tags
Hey everyone, Since I'm already home and didn't bring my basket with me, I have to give my thoughts on these products a bit early. Forgive me for the lack of posts in between; I just made it out of finals week and traveled across the country. Let's get to it! Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Natural Ivory (20) It goes on nicely, but unfortunately I couldn't deal with how much it dried out my skin. I have oily/combination skin, and I had dry, flaky skin by the end of the day! I think this could be awesome on other people (and many bloggers rave about this foundation), but it's a no for me. Sonia Kashuk Concealer Palette in Hidden Agenda (07) I like this palette, but the concealers are…
