Spring 2019 Causebox Unboxing

Beauty hauls, First impressions, Seasonal, Spring, Videos
I'm a bit late on this post and video, so let's not waste any more time ;) This season's Causebox is strong in skincare but still has enough variety to stay interesting. I was able to choose the color or style for the clutch, bracelet, and silky scarf. Check out my first impressions as I go through the box. More info about each item is below. https://youtu.be/RwKHr3owkug The Megan Portfolio Clutch - Glass Ladder & Co. This clutch is large enough to hold a tablet and has a bunch of inner pockets and slots to hold anything you'd need. It's intended to be a business-casual bag, but I could easily see myself using this when I'm going out with friends. The bag is made of vegan leather. I was thrilled…

Winter Causebox Unboxing

Winter Causebox Unboxing

First impressions, Product reviews, Seasonal, Style, Style hauls, Videos, Winter
Back in December, I received my winter 2018 Causebox right before I was set to leave town for the holidays. I was sick, but I decided to film something anyway and give myself a little editing work to do on my trip. As you can probably guess by today's date, I didn't edit on my trip. But I did get to come back to some hilarious DayQuil-induced footage. And an appearance from my pup Maya! https://youtu.be/u8WaAXMCSe0 Now that I've had these items for a while, I thought I'd give a little update for you here. The Poncho I said in the video that I likely wouldn't wear the poncho outside because "I'm scared," but it's really cute! It's not super practical as it's so open, but it's cute layered over…

Fall Causebox Unboxing

Fall Causebox Unboxing

Beauty hauls, Fall, First impressions, Product reviews, Seasonal, Style, Style hauls, Videos
As soon as I filmed and edited my Causebox in my Ads Made Me Buy It video, my fall Causebox arrived!  Let's take a look at what's inside. https://youtu.be/hwUsCZUHM78 So far, I've been consistently impressed by the value and variety in these boxes. I've never been interested in subscription boxes, but this one provides useful items that give back.  I know I keep saying this in my videos, too, but the items in these boxes are so nice that any items you don't want would make a great gift for someone else. Everything is full size and good quality. I'm already looking forward to my winter box. If you want to see it, comment below or like the video to let me know!

Hanacure All-in-One Facial

Hanacure All-in-One Facial

First impressions, Product reviews, Skin
I'm jumping back into this blog with an interesting review. (By the way, I just posted a quick lil video about my absence on my channel, so check it out if you haven't seen it already.) If you haven't heard of the Hanacure All-in-One Facial, it's a face mask that's often dubbed the "zombie mask," because it pulls on your face until you basically look dead. The before and after photos are a good time, if you're interested. This mask is marketed as an anti-aging multitasking product. It's meant to lift, tighten, brighten, and diminish wrinkles and pores. I took a look at the ingredients and saw that there are a lot of extracts and a handful of other ingredients like caffeine and niacinamide. (Side note: be careful using this…

Trying Gel Nail Polish

First impressions, Nails, Product reviews, Videos
I fell into another Internet rabbit hole. This time it was nail videos, leading me to want to try using gel nail polish at home. I tend to paint my nails about every other week, but sometimes it takes longer to make myself want to (literally) watch paint dry. I also tend to chip my nails after only a couple days, so it doesn't always seem worth the time it takes to paint them. But, I do like when my nails are grown out a bit, and it's much too dangerous to navigate the world with long bare nails. So, gel nails intrigued me. You can get much more wear time when you apply it correctly, and it's much less likely to chip. And if you take good care of…

Trying New Clarisonic Brush Heads

First impressions, Product reviews, Skin, Tools, Videos
Happy Sunday! I found this footage on my computer and realized I never finished editing and posting this video. I filmed a first impression of the newest Clarisonic brush heads: the Uplift Firming Massage Head and the Sonic Foundation Brush Head, Uplift Firming Massage Head This massage head is meant to massage your face, neck, and chest. I've seen some reviews mention using this to apply serums. It's $54 alone or now comes with the Clarisonic Smart Profile (which may have been renamed??). It can only be used with the Smart Profile model. My first impression: It simply vibrates. I thought it would rotate or something, but it doesn't. It's difficult to use this on your face except for large areas like the jawline and forehead. It's pretty expensive, especially…

Trying Trends: Magnetic Eyelashes

Trying Trends: Magnetic Eyelashes

Eyes, First impressions, Product reviews, Videos
I have to admit, this was a rash purchase. I saw an Instagram ad for magnetic eye lashes a few weeks ago and immediately bought them. In the month it took for them to arrive, I started seeing reviews of similar products, a lot of them mixed. Still, I was looking forward to trying these because if they worked, my eyelash life would be SO much easier. I'm also not supposed to wear eye makeup for a while after I get laser eye surgery in a couple days, so I thought these would be a great way to look a bit more put-together when I go on a trip to a wedding next week. If you haven't heard of these kind of lashes, they come in two pieces per eye;…

First Impressions: Sephora Color Switcher and Makeup Tape

First Impressions: Sephora Color Switcher and Makeup Tape

First impressions, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Happy Sunday! Today I want to share a first impressions and demo video for two Sephora Collection makeup tools: the Color Switcher by Vera Mona and the Line Up Makeup Tape. These are both fairly inexpensive tools that might be useful to have around. See these tools in action along with my in-depth demo and review: https://youtu.be/_a-Lop_bGQ4 Color Switch I spent the most time in this video on the color switcher, because I really wanted to see if it works. The idea behind this product is to let you wipe off eyeshadow from your brush before switching colors, saving you time and keeping your eyeshadows untainted from one another. For my day-to-day makeup, I tend to use two brushes to get the job done, so I figured if this works,…

First Impression + Review: Juvia’s Place Nubian I and II Palettes

First Impression + Review: Juvia’s Place Nubian I and II Palettes

Beauty steals, Eyes, First impressions, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Videos
I was SO excited to try these palettes. Juvia's Place is an indy makeup brand and they've had a ton of success from their Nubian palettes. You may have seen some hype surrounding their newest release, the Saharan palette. I only heard about it after I made my purchase, though, so I only have the first and second palettes. This brand is cruelty-free, and most of their products are vegan (these two palettes are). Their brushes are cruelty-free, so next time I need brushes I might check them out! Their palettes and colors are inspired by the people and culture of different places in Africa. I came across the Nubian I palette on Pinterest, and then realized I'd seen it on Jaclyn Hill's channel. I also got the Nubian II palette…

NEW(ish): liner.designer by beautyblender

NEW(ish): liner.designer by beautyblender

Eyes, First impressions, Product reviews, Tools, Videos
Hi all, During the spring VIB/VIB Rouge 15% off sale, I thought I'd pick up something different. I ended up getting this new liner.designer by beautyblender to see if it could actually help me put eyeliner on quickly and flawlessly (or, at least with fewer mistakes!). The liner.designer is made of silicone so it can adapt to lay flat on your face. It's also that signature beautyblender pink! The case has a 5x magnifying mirror and a suction attachment so you can attach it to a wall or bathroom mirror. The mirror is helpful because it gives you a good view of what you're doing, but as you'll see in the demo, I ended up with slightly strange wings. I feel like this was because being so zoomed in made me lose the context…
