Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Skin
Hi! I got this Mask-a-holic set of Peter Thomas Roth face masks in VIB Rouge sale haul a couple years ago, and since then I’ve been using these and taking notes. This post has been in the works for a long time, but it kept getting punted month-to-month as new products or topics came up that I wanted to write about instead. I also wanted to make sure I gave these products enough time to write a thorough review of each one. Cruelty-free status Part of why I put off this post is that the company is in a grey area in terms of their cruelty-free status. The consensus seems to be that they’re not, but I wanted to include their full statement from their website in case you’re interested. Peter Thomas…

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

Eyes, Fall, Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Seasonal, Summer
I'm finally coming at you with another review, this time for the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette. There are four different Obsessions palettes, but this one stood out to me because it has a great variety of colors and is closest to what I normally like to wear. The Details Retails for $27 at Sephora and Huda Beauty's website 9 x 1.3g (0.05 oz) eyeshadows Cruelty-free (and after some digging, I found that the company responded to someone's comment on their website about the Obsession palettes being vegan, but take that as you wish) Here's what Huda Beauty says about this line of mini palettes: A range of compact eyeshadow palettes, expertly curated by Huda herself, offering beauty lovers a complete day-to-night eye color wardrobe. Each Huda Beauty Obsessions…

Sephora 2018 Birthday Gift: BITE Beauty

Sephora 2018 Birthday Gift: BITE Beauty

Lips, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
My birthday’s tomorrow, so now is a great time to talk about Sephora’s 2018 birthday gift! I love BITE Beauty, and I was so happy to find out that they’re cruelty-free (the other birthday gift option is Glam Glow, which unfortunately isn’t cruelty-free). I have a few lipsticks that started with minis just like these—one from when I was VIB rouge and a duo from one of their holiday collections. I’ve since expanded to a couple full-size lipsticks because they had a VIB Rouge exclusive and a couple limited-edition shades that caught my eye. This little set comes with two different lipstick formulas and a couple lip care samples. Let’s take a look! Lipsticks: Amuse Bouche in Chai on the left, Matte Créme Crayon in Glacé in on the right.…

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hey, how 'bout a blog post review instead of a video today? ;) Spoiler alert: Today’s review is a rave review. You may remember from my VIB Rouge Sale haul this year that I snagged this little eyeshadow palette for my then-upcoming Thanksgiving trip. Well, I enjoyed it so much that I continued to use it when I got home, then took it on a pre-Christmas visit to see my Dad, and so on… I had to force myself to pick up other products again after a while! So let’s talk about what I like so much, yeah? Packaging I have ZERO complaints about the packaging for this product. It’s slim, light, and fits in just about any small space you might have when you’re packing a suitcase or gym…

My Updated Skincare Routine (With Actives)

Product reviews, Skin, Tutorials and Tips, Videos
OK, no more safety talk. I hope that if you choose to experiment in skincare, you’ll do your own research and find what seems realistic for your skin and lifestyle. I’ve found that there’s a lot of experimentation involved, sometimes at the expense of your wallet. Skincare Actives 101

Skincare Actives 101

Skin, Tutorials and Tips
This post has been in the works for a long time. I posted a few months ago about my new skincare addiction, and I’ve since been putting together a routine that seems to have done a lot of good for my skin. But before I show you my routine, I want to talk about safety. Chemical exfoliation is no joke. In this post, you’ll learn: The importance of SPF and moisturizing What actives are Some types of actives available, including chemical exfoliation Why pH matters to your skin In my next post, I’ll talk about how to incorporate actives into your routine safely and walk you through the steps I took to start using them. And of course, I’ll cover my actual routine then, too. SPF: Your New BFF If…

2017 Favorites (Cruelty-Free)

2017 Favorites (Cruelty-Free)

Favorites, Product reviews
What a year. I’m going to post my 2017 reflection and 2018 goals separately, but I’ll say right now that this year has been both challenging and rewarding in so many ways. I’m also happy to be spending my last night of 2017 at home making videos and writing instead of out partying. Woohoo! This year was an interesting year for me with makeup and skincare. I barely bought any makeup, instead doing one big purge in the middle of the year and another over the next couple days. I learned a lot about skincare and got quite a few products to try, but even then, I didn’t get all that much. This is the first year since I started to wear makeup that I spent so little. I feel…

Colourpop at Sephora: Golden State of Mind and Polite AF Sets

Eyes, Palettes and sets, Product reviews
Hi, friends! I got my hands on a couple of the Colourpop products that launched at Sephora back in November, and I’m so excited to finally share my thoughts with you. I’ve wanted to try some of their products for a long time, and it’s so much more convenient to do so now that they’re at Sephora! All of their products are cruelty-free and reasonably priced. Let’s dive in! Golden State of Mind Palette This palette caught my eye because it’s full of gorgeous shimmers and glitters. I don’t have a lot of very glittery eyeshadows, so I knew this would give me a lot more options in my collection. This palette sells at Sephora for $22, but as of this writing it’s on sale for $18. You may be…

Trying Gel Nail Polish

First impressions, Nails, Product reviews, Videos
I fell into another Internet rabbit hole. This time it was nail videos, leading me to want to try using gel nail polish at home. I tend to paint my nails about every other week, but sometimes it takes longer to make myself want to (literally) watch paint dry. I also tend to chip my nails after only a couple days, so it doesn't always seem worth the time it takes to paint them. But, I do like when my nails are grown out a bit, and it's much too dangerous to navigate the world with long bare nails. So, gel nails intrigued me. You can get much more wear time when you apply it correctly, and it's much less likely to chip. And if you take good care of…

Wet ‘n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

Wet ‘n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

Face, Product reviews
I was way too late to try out these Wet ‘n Wild MegaGlo highlight powders, but at least we’re here now! I’m a huge fan of the brand. They have amazing lipsticks and highlighting powders. Plus, they’re cruelty-free.  A lot of new products have come out from Wet ‘n Wild recently, such as their liquid lipsticks. I have quite a few highlighting powders already so I dragged my heels when they came out with this line. But, I knew I’d snag one eventually, and I had a hard time deciding which I wanted. They have a great range of six shades that seem geared towards all skin tones. I eventually picked up the shade 321B Precious Petals. I justify this purchase because it's rose gold, and I didn’t have any…

Trying New Clarisonic Brush Heads

First impressions, Product reviews, Skin, Tools, Videos
Happy Sunday! I found this footage on my computer and realized I never finished editing and posting this video. I filmed a first impression of the newest Clarisonic brush heads: the Uplift Firming Massage Head and the Sonic Foundation Brush Head, Uplift Firming Massage Head This massage head is meant to massage your face, neck, and chest. I've seen some reviews mention using this to apply serums. It's $54 alone or now comes with the Clarisonic Smart Profile (which may have been renamed??). It can only be used with the Smart Profile model. My first impression: It simply vibrates. I thought it would rotate or something, but it doesn't. It's difficult to use this on your face except for large areas like the jawline and forehead. It's pretty expensive, especially…

Trying Trends: Magnetic Eyelashes

Trying Trends: Magnetic Eyelashes

Eyes, First impressions, Product reviews, Videos
I have to admit, this was a rash purchase. I saw an Instagram ad for magnetic eye lashes a few weeks ago and immediately bought them. In the month it took for them to arrive, I started seeing reviews of similar products, a lot of them mixed. Still, I was looking forward to trying these because if they worked, my eyelash life would be SO much easier. I'm also not supposed to wear eye makeup for a while after I get laser eye surgery in a couple days, so I thought these would be a great way to look a bit more put-together when I go on a trip to a wedding next week. If you haven't heard of these kind of lashes, they come in two pieces per eye;…
