Fall Blushes

Hi, everyone!

Since you guys seemed to like my fall lips post, I thought I’d do the same thing for blushes and nail colors, too! So look out tomorrow for the nail colors. Let’s get to the blushes…

The “goes with everything” neutral

I wrote a post about this Milani blush because I love the color, texture, and packaging of it! A mauve blush is great for fall because they’re usually not necessarily warm- or cool-toned, so you can reach for it any morning knowing it will look great. I also love this brownish blush, NYX in Cocoa. It gives the cheeks a little color but can look much more toned down than a bright color.

A natural pink

Some might argue that there’s no room for pink during the cold weather months, but I disagree! I think you can rock a nice subtle pink any time of year. I recommend trying to find one that’s not overly warm or cool, so that, once again, you can reach for it on any morning and know it will go with your look. I love TheBalm’s Down Boy because it’s matte and versatile.

A cold-weather flush

Everyone seems to love that “just got in from the cold” flush of color on the cheeks. Wet ‘n Wild Mellow Wine (depotted) is a great, cheap way to get this look, and so is NARS Taos if you’re looking for something bold. Wet ‘n Wild blushes are super smooth and pigmented, so use a light hand with this. Taos a bit scary in the compact, but with a light hand it can look wonderful, too.

Purple-toned Pink

I love using a bright purple-toned pink as an alternative to the cold-weather flush, especially when I’m using a purple- or cool-toned lipstick. Tarte’s 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Flush is perfect for this, or the more budget friendly NYX blush in Desert Rose. Tarte’s blush is matte but NYX’s blush has a slight satin finish.

Something with shimmer

If you’re in a hurry, it’s nice to have a blush with shimmer already in it, so you can skip on a cheekbone highlight. I love TheBalm in Hot Mama and Clinique Shimmering Stripes Powder Blusher for this—one is a rose-gold shade and the other a pinky-mauve mix.

Thanks for reading! What are your favorite blushes for the cold weather?
