Swatches: Kat Von D Lipstick Set

I was so excited to grab the Everlasting mini liquid lipstick set by Kat Von D during the Sephora VIB Rouge sale in November.

Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set

This set contains 8 mini liquid lipsticks. I already had mini versions of Lolita and Lolita II as well as a full size of Ayesha, and I’ve fallen in love with the formula. These liquid lipsticks hold up through a whole day, and they don’t change color over time. I find that while these don’t dry out my lips (as long as I stay reasonably hydrated), they don’t feel moisturizing either. To help make sure your lips don’t dry out, I suggest putting on a lip balm for a few minutes and wiping it off just before you apply the lipstick.

I love when brands let you try a range of shades from a line, without the commitment and high price of purchasing a full size. This set leans strongly towards more bright and bold shades, but Lovesick and Mother round it out a bit.

I know these shades are a bold, but that’s what sets like this are for! That navy blue is something I would have been curious about but never would have spent the money for a full size. And a shade like Plath is so beautiful, but wouldn’t be my first full-size buy in favor of something I’d get daily use out of. Now that I have them in a set, I’m so happy to try them on and wear them on occasion. The mini size makes them great for throwing into a bag for a party or trip.

Want to see what these look like on?

Man, I love making quick videos like this. I like to include the up-close application as well as a zoomed-out view. I’ve noticed that when videos don’t include that zoomed-out view, it can be hard to tell how bright a color is or how it looks with the person’s hair, skin, and eye color, as well as their other makeup.

My one tiny critique of this set is these lipsticks applied a bit inconsistently from one to the next. Echo in particular needs a decent amount of product to get the full color (you can see I tried to go in with a thin layer and it looked streaky). But overall, I truly love this formula, and it’s awesome that all these lipsticks are cruelty-free and vegan. Now if only Kat Von D had matching lip liners for them! It would be so much easier to apply the lipstick after lining my lips.

As of right now, this $49 set is still available at Sephora. I also mentioned in my haul that I got an extra to give away, so stay tuned later this month… 🙂

Have you tried these lipsticks before? What’s your favorite shade in this set?
