Hanacure All-in-One Facial

Hanacure All-in-One Facial

First impressions, Product reviews, Skin
I'm jumping back into this blog with an interesting review. (By the way, I just posted a quick lil video about my absence on my channel, so check it out if you haven't seen it already.) If you haven't heard of the Hanacure All-in-One Facial, it's a face mask that's often dubbed the "zombie mask," because it pulls on your face until you basically look dead. The before and after photos are a good time, if you're interested. This mask is marketed as an anti-aging multitasking product. It's meant to lift, tighten, brighten, and diminish wrinkles and pores. I took a look at the ingredients and saw that there are a lot of extracts and a handful of other ingredients like caffeine and niacinamide. (Side note: be careful using this…

Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Roundup Review: Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks

Palettes and sets, Product reviews, Skin
Hi! I got this Mask-a-holic set of Peter Thomas Roth face masks in VIB Rouge sale haul a couple years ago, and since then I’ve been using these and taking notes. This post has been in the works for a long time, but it kept getting punted month-to-month as new products or topics came up that I wanted to write about instead. I also wanted to make sure I gave these products enough time to write a thorough review of each one. Cruelty-free status Part of why I put off this post is that the company is in a grey area in terms of their cruelty-free status. The consensus seems to be that they’re not, but I wanted to include their full statement from their website in case you’re interested. Peter Thomas…

How to Use Skincare Actives

How to Use Skincare Actives

Tutorials and Tips
Howdy! In my last post, we talked about the importance of SPF and moisturizing, different types of skincare actives, and why the pH of your skincare products is important. Before we jump into part 2, I want to remind you that I’m not a dermatologist or esthetician, and you should talk to your doctor or a skincare expert if you have specific questions about your skin. Adding actives to my skincare routine was time-consuming and full of learning experiences, but my new routine has made my skin extremely stable. I get fewer breakouts, my skin feels more comfortable and moisturized, and I’m much more comfortable wearing light or no foundation. My skin glows. My skin just after applying retinol I can’t promise that your skin will be perfect if you…

Skincare Actives 101

Skin, Tutorials and Tips
This post has been in the works for a long time. I posted a few months ago about my new skincare addiction, and I’ve since been putting together a routine that seems to have done a lot of good for my skin. But before I show you my routine, I want to talk about safety. Chemical exfoliation is no joke. In this post, you’ll learn: The importance of SPF and moisturizing What actives are Some types of actives available, including chemical exfoliation Why pH matters to your skin In my next post, I’ll talk about how to incorporate actives into your routine safely and walk you through the steps I took to start using them. And of course, I’ll cover my actual routine then, too. SPF: Your New BFF If…

Testing Beauty Hacks: Deep Cleaning Pores

Testing Beauty Hacks: Deep Cleaning Pores

Tutorials and Tips
Hi! I had a great vacation last weekend and have recovered from LASIK really well. The only downside is that I haven't been able to use skincare in about two weeks. Because I knew I wouldn't be able to use any skincare for a few days to a week after LASIK, I weaned off about two weeks ago. My skincare makes my skin sensitive to light, and I didn't want to get sunburned on vacation without my SPF, so it was best to put it all on hold. Now that I've gotten the green light on skincare from my eye doctor, I wanted to start by getting all the gunk out of my pores. I use chemical exfoliation a couple times per week, so before jumping right back into my old routine,…

My New Skincare Addiction

Musings, Skin, Tutorials and Tips
I have a confession to make. I fell into an internet rabbit hole. I enjoy finding random blogs and scrolling through Tumblr and Reddit. Somehow, I found the subreddit Skincare Addiction, and let me tell you, it is certainly an addiction. It started innocently: I started reading the information in the sidebar. A month ago, I considered myself to be mildly interested and educated in the world of skincare. Ha. The more I read, the more I realized I knew nothing. Skincare is truly a science, and companies hide it behind words like "brightening," "deep-cleansing," and "renewing." It turns out these words often mean much more than they seem. Chemical exfoliation is a huge topic in the subreddit, and I'd somehow never looked into it despite having used Stridex and…

Updated Skincare Routine

Favorites, Product reviews, Skin, Videos
I got a video request a while ago to do an updated skincare routine, and I finally got it together! The video is a quick high-level of what I'm using in the morning and at night. I'll be spending this post giving a little more detail about all these products. https://youtu.be/I0NlolQCXz8 I had a lot of fun making this video, and I hope you enjoyed it! Now let's talk details... A.M. Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera - I picked this up when I ran out of my Mario Badescu toner, and I'm really liking it so far. It doesn't irritate my skin, and it gets all the oil off my skin from sleeping. Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Instant Fusion Treatment Toner - I had this sample…

TMI Review: Baby Foot Molts my Feet

Product reviews, Skin
I think this is my grossest review yet. Somewhere in the depths of the Internet, I heard about this amazing foot mask that basically makes your feet molt over the span of a week. I walk to and from work every day, so my feet were getting gnarly. I was even starting to feel physical pain as my dry, calloused skin rubbed the bottoms of my shoes. It was time for a MAJOR pedicure. I was ready to peel off all my skin and start over... I purchased my Baby Foot mask for about $15 on Amazon, and it's on Prime, so I got it in a couple days. As I waited for it to arrive, I read a ton of reviews and saw so many reviewer photos of their feet completely peeling off.…

Silk'n Flash&Go Express

Product reviews, Seasonal, Skin, Spring, Summer
I'm going to start this review with the disclaimer. I received this device complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster. As always, my reviews are 100% honest and all opinions are my own. Now that that's out of the way, on to the review! The Flash&Go express is an at-home hair removal device that takes 6-8 weeks for a full treatment cycle. All you do is plug the device in, and it powers on. You hear the fan inside going for good measure. It's not so loud that it's scary, but it can be a little intimidating the first time. Once the device is ready to deliver the light, the indicator lights stop cycling and you can set the power level. Here's a pretty major caveat, though: you can't use…

Haul: Sephora, Hautelook, Forever 21

Haul: Sephora, Hautelook, Forever 21

Beauty hauls, Style, Style hauls, Videos
Hey guys! Life's been crazy lately as I get ready to move next week. YEEE! Anyway, I finally got my haul footage together for you. The Sephora items are from the 15% off VIB sale... ages ago. My bad. The Hautelook items are also makeup related because I needed some new bags/organizers for traveling, and Trina Turk happened to have a flash sale going on! Then, I revamped my jewelry collection with Forever 21. I'm slowly starting to realize that I'm getting to be too old for most of those stores as my main shopping spots, but jewelry is OK, right?? Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video. :) http://youtu.be/7yo6WEFg1rI Here's a list of everything I got Sephora - Point perks: Living Proof texture spray, 500-point makeup bag with samples…
